Dr. Erica Louise Tyson

Chiropractor

Hey y’all! It’s me, Dr. Erica Louise Tyson, but you can call me Dr. Erica. Thank you so much for taking the time to read my bio. I find it horrifically boring to read facts about a person with zero personality portrayed.  So, I’ll do my best to enliven this prosopography of who I am. Who wouldn’t want to know who their doc is? Especially if you’re entrusting your health concerns with them. Am I right or am I right? Let’s get to it.

I was born and raised in the heart of Los Angeles, CA with a solid aspiration to live out my purpose to help people. Thankfully, I came across chiropractic to do just that. I practice to exemplify the lost art of empathy and laying my hands on another in the healthcare field. I’m proud to be in a profession where my hands are used for healing, just like my dear friend, Yeshua, the carpenter.  Being the 4th child of 6, caring for others has always been natural to me, especially to those who are pregnant with the magnificent gift of life.

I obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences: Medical Biology from the University of California, Riverside. As if that wasn’t a doozy, I went on to receive my doctorate of chiropractic from the Los Angeles College of Chiropractic at the Southern California University of Health Sciences. While there, I found the love of my life, Dr. Corinthian Tyson in the cadaver lab. It took guts to introduce myself to him! Pun intended.

As the recipient of the President’s Leadership Award of my cohort (Yay me!!), I am determined to spread my passion for women’s body empowerment throughout pregnancy and how chiropractic care is a staple of that mission. I furthered my expertise in caring for pregnant women and infants by training with the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association diplomate program, the Upledger Institute International for craniosacral techniques and became a doula to help women during the most sacred time of their life. Not to mention, I birthed my first born at home, in my bathtub, and used all those years of stored info in my noggin to do so. But that's a story for another day.

For many years, I had the privilege of working alongside and mentored by the distinguished and well known perinatal chiropractor, Dr. Elliot Berlin, founder of the Berlin Wellness Group. He has taken me under his wing and showed me the unique and impressive way to care for a pregnant woman. This is where I grew the most as a neonatal, perinatal, and craniosacral chiropractor. From the A-list celebrities I was fortunate to treat, to the humbling mission trips serving the population of Bolivia and Panama, I've had the honor of blessing many women and families in need.

Becoming a mother to my son has been the most fascinating, fulfilling adventure. I’ve become that much more of a competent practitioner having gone through the experience myself. I wholeheartedly want to give women a new found hope and raise their expectations of the standard of care they receive while pregnant. I can’t wait to meet you and empower you on your health and motherhood journey.

Good morning, good afternoon, and good evening to whoever is reading this and wherever you are. Thanks for wanting to know more about me! Hopefully what I have to say gives you a better understanding as to who I am and doesn’t bore you out of your mind. I moved to Bakersfield when I was about 10 years old and graduated from Liberty High School (Go Pats!). I basically fell in “like” with chiropractic back in 2014 while shadowing a local chiropractor here in Bakersfield named Dr. Brendon Bradley. He was and still is an awesome inspiration. While in chiropractic college, I began to understand just how rewarding this style of medicine is for the client and doctor. Thus ensued me truly falling in love with the profession. I also happen to really fall in love while in school with. . .  you guessed it! Dr. Erica. We first met in a cadaver lab and let me tell you she was/is drop DEAD gorgeous! Anyways, here’s the boring stuff you came to read.

I graduated from Hampton University with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Premedical Sciences (Go Pirates!), then graduated with my doctorate in chiropractic from the Los Angeles College of Chiropractic at the Southern California University of Health Sciences (Go. . . chiropractors? We don’t have a mascot; sadly). Not that any of this means anything but it’s comforting to know that the practitioner treating you actually graduated from school right? Anyways, I specialize in myofascial release, sports injuries, rehabilitative exercises, and radiology to name a few. I've been blessed to utilize my gift in many environments including weight lifting competitions at Metroflex Gym in Long Beach, Sports performance facilities for NFL players, traveling as a “Roadie” for the week long AIDS LifeCycle bike ride, and on a mission trip to Bolivia.

What does all this mean? Essentially whoever decides to walk through our doors and trusts me as their chiropractor, should know that I will do whatever is in my power to get you to your desired health whether that is physically, spiritually, or emotionally. We don’t run a mill here in our office and believe in spending quality time with our patients to ensure they understand the capabilities of chiropractic and most importantly the intelligence of their own bodies. I pray that Yahweh uses me as the vessel that I am to implement His healing power to whomever I have the privilege to treat.
